"What our Members say about us "
One day an 11 year old girl wanted to be able to talk to someone and write to someone other than people in her family or friends or people in her country. She logged on to so many websites starting with google. The girl googled "free pen-pal websites for kids" so many came up that weren't what the girl wanted. Then she came across global penfriends and was shocked everything she wanted was on family friendly website. She made her profile and used the nickname she uses for everything and signed in. She wanted someone her gender, a girl 11-13 from somewhere like Australia and that's what she found. A girl from your amazing website from Australia, her age, same interests and best of all she found a friend. They have been writing ever since and developed a strong relationship. Thanks to your website this has happened. This girl was me. My nick name is "censored for privacy" and I hope that everyone will join your website - it is truly amazing!

Sheree from Australia tells about how she met her friend from Japan.
I would like to take this opportunity to give my sincere thanks to Global Penfriends. GP's have helped me get me in touch with my dear friend Kato. I have been a member of the club for 6 years now and during this time i have made many contacts and friends from all corners of the globe - from Australia to Iceland.
My name is Sheree and I live in QLD, Australia. I first started writing to my friend Kato from Japan in 1998. We have been snail mailing eachother ever since. It wasn't until 2003 when we decided to meet up on a holiday. We were two very different people with completely different hobbies and lifestyles. The only common interest we shared was our penpalling hobby. I believe that becuase we are so different from eachother - our friendship is so much stronger.
Kato has been everything I was looking for in a penpal. She was fantastic at explaining what life was like for her and explained everything that seemed completely foreign to myself. The other great thing about Kato was that she was completely interested in my lifestyle and culture and found it fascinating what i was getting up to. I will never forget her reaction when she found out that we actually had kangaroos jumping around our golf courses.
Kato and I met up in Japan, where we spent 2 weeks exploring Katos home town and surroundings.. it was absolutely amazing! Being able to experience lifestyle in Japan with the guiding hand of a local was a real treat. She introduced me to her family and friends and gave me an idea of what life was like for her on a daily basis. I met many of the people she would discuss in her letters... the good and the bad :)
After we finished exploring Kato's village, I travelled back to Australia with Kato and returned her hospitality. I gave Kato a taste of what life was like in Australia.. it was a taste of a very diifferent lifestyle...
So thank you again Global Penfriends.. you have given me a beautiful friendship! Below is a picture of Myself and Kato at the Japanese airport, after meeting for the first time after 5 years of corresponding through letters. Kato and I continue to write every week and are busy planning our next trip. We are friends for life and I wouldn't have it any other way!
Yours Faithully,
Sheree
Eugene from USA tells about his friend from New Zealand.
Thanks to Global Penfriends for giving me a chance to repay my gratitude for hooking me up with my mate Simon from New Zealand. I originally joined GP's about 3 years ago, I was intent on meeting someone who lived near some Ski Slopes in a different location other than the Rocky mountains in the USA.
I come from Boulder, Colorado in the USA. It is fantastic here and I lead a very active lifestyle.. When i was searching through the Global Penfriends database I was hoping to find a contact that could show me a ski resort outside of the USA. I was lucky enough to stumble on Simon's profile.. He is a fantastic friend and true buddy.
We have been corresponding for over 2 years now and last Winter (In the South hemisphere), we managed to catch up at a ski resort in Queens town, NZ. We had the best time and Simon was a perfect tour guide.. even managed to set me up with one of his friends! :) What more could I have asked for from my penpal!
I am hoping to invite Simon over to visit me in Colorado next winter so I can show him some of our local ski slopes. Maybe I can show him a few new moves I have been working on this season. Just joking - I think he will be showing me some moves. (He is much better than me, though he will never admit it).
Anyhow, Big thanx to you Global Penfriends for hooking us up!
The photo below shows us on the slopes.
See ya round,
Eugene
Hege from Norway tells of her experience in meeting new friends from all over the world.
I`ve always had the intrest for other cultures and counrtries. And penpalling has opened up a whole new world for me, i also like travelling, and have been visiting one of my penpals in argentina once, that was an intresting trip and i learned a lot about the spanish culture. I had a native South American to show me the sites.. what more could i have asked for? My Argentinian penpal (Maria) also showed me how to Tango.. I had so much fun i am trying to find a Tango club over here in Norway now. My time with Maria has also given me a new view on life - she has shown me that money is not everything and in some ways people can be much happier without wealth.
Thanks to global penfriends i now havemany friends from all over the world. i have a lot of travelling to do....
Hilsen,
Hege
Abbey from England tells of her experience with our Club
My hat goes off to the team at Global Penfriends. You have managed to create a family friendly website for people of all ages. I had registered on many different freebie sites and it never resulted in any lasting friendships. At Global Penfriends I have only been registered for a few months and I already have 2 penpals that i am communicating with consistently each week.
I have a young daughter of 8 years oid..I just registered her last week and she got her first penpal letter yesterday. I am so pleased with the safe environement that your team has created. I always wanted my daughter to have penpals on the internet but was worried about security - Having a private inbox is a very good idea!
Another kind word i can say about your club is that i can tell there is a personal touch - My profile took 2 submissions before you accepted my details. Its refreshing to find a club that is actually reading through each profile and determining if it should be allowed to enter the database. Next time i submit a profile i PROMISE to be more descriptive :)
Keep up the work people!
Always smiling,
Abbey
Marylene Julie from the Seychelles thanks Global penfriends for her new friend Michelle
Dear Global Penfriends,
I was surfing the net once as I normally do and
suddenly I got an email in my 'in box' rom Global
Penfriends. As it has been quite a while since I
connected to that site, I became curious and opened
it. And there was a request from a French lady wanting
me to be her friend.
I quickly agreed as I am also fluent in French. And to
this day I never regretted that I replied to that
lady.
she is indeed a nice and warm heatred person who has
heard of the Seychelles before but wanted a personal
contact with a Seychellois.
Ever since we have been good friends and nowadays I am
enjoying French magazines from her and I am really
enjoing them.
My wish is that she realised her dream and comes to
the Seychelles where my family and I will show her
around every corner of the island, experience our
Creole culture and food. She can stay at my place as
we have recently guilt a new house where she will
watch the birds eating the ripe pawpaws in the trees
outside; watch the surrounded grren hills where other
birds have made their homes etc..
Thank you Global Penfriends for sending me Michelle.
Marylene Julie from the Seychelles.
